Individuals and married couples are limited to one homestead standard deduction. As the rezeipt of this
uction becomes more beneficial, there is more incentie than ever for homestead fraud. Honestead fraud
:auses higher tas bills for all; therefore, HEA 13d4-2099 requires taspayers who receive the homestead
standard deduction to verif} that they are eligible to receive the benefit and to proide additional identifying
information necessary to allow county goeroment to better monitor homestead filings. This information
ill be kept confidential and can only be accessed by authorized counh' officials. The Departnient of Local
Goernment Finance ill use this information to create tools that will help county officials eliminate
