OF THE
BOARD OF COP4NIZSSIONERS OF GIBSON COUNTY, INDIANA
An Ordinance to Establish a Department of Redevelopment
Pursuant to IC 36-7-14 and Repealing all Orders Inconsistent
Therewith
WHEREAS, th2 Indidnd G2n0id1 ASSembly hds empowered CitieS,
towns and counties to establish a department of redevelopment
with all the powers set forth in IC 36-7-14 and IC 36-7-25
("ACt")

WHEREAS, the Act states that the clearance, replanning and
redevelopment of blighted areas and economic development areas
are public uses and purposes for which public money may be spent
and private property may be acquired; and
WHEREAS, the Act declares that each unit shall, to the
extent feasible under the Act and consistent with the needs of
the unit, afford a maximum opportunity for rehabilitation,
redevelopment or economic development of areas by private
enterprise;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY the Hoard of Commissioners
of Gibson County, Indiana that:
1. The Board of Commissioners of Gibson County, Indiana
("County"), now deems it to be in the best interest of the County
and its citizens to afford a maximum opportunity for
rehabilitation, redevelopment or economic development of areas by
private enterprise and the County by establishing a Department of
Redevelopment.
2. 'Phe Board of Commissioners hereby establishes the
Department of Redevelopment of the County. The Department will
be controlled by a board of five members known as the Gibson
County Redevelopment Commission.
3. PursuanL to the Act all of the territory within the
corporate boundaries of the County, except territory within any
municipality in the County which has established a department of
redevelopment, will be a taxing district to be known as the
Redevelopment District of Gibson County for the purpose of
levying and collecting special benefit taxes for redevelopment
purposes as provided in the Act. The Board of Commissioners
finds and determines that all of the taxable property within this
special taxing district will be considered to be benefited by the
redevelopment projects and economic development projects carried
out under the Act to the extent of the special_taxes levied under
the Actr
4. The Board of Commissioners hereby appoints Darwin

Callis, Helen Hauck, George Rehnquist, Warner Clem and Joseph
Haag, as members of the Gibson County Redevelopment Commission.
5. The term of office of the members shall commence January
1, 1995, and expire on January 1, 1996.

and 0 nays.
