County Commissioner Resolutions - July 2001GIBSON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' RESOLUTION N0. 2001-� `NHEREAS, various meetings and studies concerning county-wide zoning have beE:n held. `NHEREAS, the general consensus resulting from those meetings and studies is that Gibson County should adopt a comprehensive plan in prepazation of countv zoning to impruve the health, safety, morals, com�enience, order, and general welfaze and for the saF:e of r:Fficiency and economy in the process of future growth and development. ��HEREAS, it is estimated that it will cost approximately $100,000 to prepare a comprehensive Plan and establish a Plan Commission. ivOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that for the purpose of improving the health. safety, convenience and welfare of its citizens and to plan for the future develoament of the communities in Gibson County to the end that: The high��ay systems be carefully planned; 2. That new communities grow only with adequate public H�ay, utilirv. health, education, and recreational facilities: 3. That the needs of agricultural industry and business be recognized in future growth; 4. That residential azeas provide healthful surroundings for family - and life; 5. That the growth of the community is commensurate with and promotive of the efficient and economical use of public funds; "� he Boazd of County Commissioners apply to the County Council for funding in the amvunt of $���9-d0 - O 6 for the preparation of a comprehensive plan, -�- : �•-�. establistunent of an azea plan commission, and for contracting with a qualified planning consultant and land use attorney. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if sufficient funds are appropriated that a qu,ilified consultant be hired pursuant to the procedwes set forth by law to begin the est3blistunent of a Comprehensive Plan and Plan Commission. 13E IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all towns in Gibson County be contacted to see if tt�.ey want to paRicipate in the planning and zoning.
