Hitch do hereby make application to have classified as FOREST LAND, subject to the provisions of an Act approved March 10, 1927, entitled "An Act to encourage timber production and to protect watersheds, by clauifying certain land as forest lands and prescribing a method of app2ising lands thus clauified for purposes of tax• ation," the foliowing described land, of which I am owner, to-wit: LEGAL Part of Fractional Section 30, Township 1 South, Range LO West, and part of Location 187, Both in Patoka Township, Gibson County, Indiana, and more particularly described as follows: Begin at a point in the South line of said Fraction Seccion 30, one thousand four and fifty-hundredtsh (1004.50) feet West of the Southeast corner thereof at a steel fence post driven in a ravine; thence North two thousand nine hundred fifty-two and zero-hundredths (2,952.00) feet to the low water mark on the Patoka River; thence in a northeasterly direction up said River to a point two hundred fourteen and zero hundredths (214.00) feet measured at righ[ angles to the projection of the above described West line; [hence South and parallel to said West line three thousand one hundred twenty-three and zero-hundred[hs (3>123.00) feet to a strap iron guarded by a steel fence post on the South line of said Fraction Section; thence West two hundred fourteen and zero hundredths (214.00) feet to the place of beginning and containing 14.9225 acres. Further I have examined the forest plantation or native forest, and believe the stand of trees now complies with the provisions of the law. Further I believe the owner will faithfully carry out the provisions of the law. The topography, soil,stand and species of trees etc., are here briefly described: This is an upland tract descending to a low elevation in the Patoka River flood plain. Elevation changes 90 feet over the tract. Soils on this tract are Alfoz3 silt loam on the flat hilltops, Sylvan silt loam in the upper drainages and Wakeland silt loam in the flat areas along the Patoka River. Half the southern end of the tract is an old growth upland stand. Major species are tuliptree, ash, red oak, white oak, hickory and sugar maple. Sizes range 14 - 30 inches DBH. Middle of this tract is old fields (7 acres) with black locust 4-8" DBH and a young stand (10 years) of sycamore, tulip and boxelder. The stand near the river is cottonc.00d, silver maple, sycartnre and boxelder � The owner desires to preserve this tract as it is.
