Soils are Sylvan silt loam with a little Alford silt loam. These are excellent cwodland soils. Tree species are red, white black and chinkapin oa7cs, tuliptree, ash, walnut and hickoiy. This area has been heavily harvested in the past. It has also been recently grazed, although this has now ceased. A few small open areas on hilltops may need to be planted if regeneration dces not develop well in the next few years. A light harvest is needed to eliminete overniature and damaged trees. The soils are predaninatly Newark silty clay lo�n and Lindside silt loam both frequently flooded. A large portion of this area is new soil added by deposition frcm the Wabash. Tree species on this area are bottomiand hard4n�ods. Silver maple, sw�eetgtun, sycamore,�cottonc.00d, hackberry, ash and elm are cortrtion. Sarie areas have been heavily harvested in the last 20 years. Other areas have been farrtied and later abandoned. New soils along the river generate into cottonwvod and silver maple stands. Stocking is variable. Vines are a problan.
