AFFIDAVIT OF FAMILY HISTORY
DALE V. MELLINGER, being first duly sworn upon his oath states as follows:
1. That he is an adult male and a lifetime resident of Patoka, Gibson
County, State of Indiana.
2. That he is a great-grandson of Thomas Mellinger and Mary C. Mellinger.

That his great-grandmother, Mary C. Mellinger died intestate and a
widow, sometime before the year 1900.
That Mary C. Mellinger owned the following described real estate
situate in Gibson County, State of Indiana, to-wit:
Lot #59 in Columbia Division, Town of Patoka.
5. That Mary C. Mellinger left surviving her as her sole and only
heir-at-law, my grandfather, George Mellinger, who died intestate a
resident of Patoka, Gibson County, Indiana sometime prior to 1940.
George Mellinger left surviving him three children, namely: John
Mellinger, Ethel Rinehart and Floyd Mellinger, this affiant's father.
6. That John Mellinger died intestate on or about the year 1956
leaving no spouse nor children surviving him; Ethel Rinehart died
intestate on or about February, 1988 leaving no spouse nor children
surviving her and Floyd Mellinger died intestate on or about April,
1980 leaving surviving him a wife, Nova M. Mellinger and three
children namely: Reba Pike, Russell Mellinger and Dale V.
Mellinger, this affiant.
7. That upon the death of Mary C. Mellinger, George Mellinger main-
tained the real estate described in paragraph 4 above and paid the
taxes thereon; upon the death of George Mellinger, Floyd Mellinger
maintained said real estate and paid the taxes thereon; upon the
death of Floyd Mellinger, this affiant has maintained the property
and continues to pay the taxes thereon.
8. That this affiant, his father, Floyd Mellinger and his grandfather,
George Mellinger have continiously possessed and claimed ownership
to said real estate openly, notoriously, adversely and hostile to
any other claims of ownership.
9. That the estates of this affiant's father, grandfather and great-
grandmother were of insufficient values to necessitate the filing
of Indiana Inheritance or Federal Tax returns and no tax liabil-
ities existed by virtue of their demise.
10. This affidavit sets forth the Mellinger family history, this
affiant's claim to ownership to said above described real estate
and further is made to induce the Auditor of Gibson County to make
transfer of its records reflecting this affiant's ownership of said
described real estate.
FURTHER, affiant sayeth not.
