The City of Oakland City passed the following resolution:
I. This Resolution addresses the following property:
Parcel identification number 26-14-18-204-001.582-007 OLD
Alternate identification 1418200009
Brief tax description Union Maxey 1/2 'r
Said parcel shall hereinafter be collectively referred to as"Prop` �� ►T-18 4'- f�g' b
2. Mark and Diana Broshears purchased Property in or about 1972. This property was purchased
from Harry and Jane Bryant.
3. At least one of the two lots has improvements on it,though it is possible that the improvements
straddle both Parcels.
4. City property taxes were not charged on Property by the Gibson County Treasurer until 2010 for
the 2009 year.
5. Gibson County Surveyor, Michael Stevenson, when reviewing the City's Board minutes,
discovered that Property was annexed in 1912. It is believed that this annexation was done by
motion; in other words,there is no known written ordinance or resolution effectuating this action.
This language was found on page 457 of the aforementioned minute book. The action was taken
on September 23, 1912.
6. To the best of Mark Broshears' knowledge, from the time of passage of the motion,
approximately 98 years passed before the County started imposing City of Oakland City taxes on
the property.
7. All property owned to the east of County Road 1225 F.is outside the City of Oakland City limits.
In other words,all properties are county property, not City.
8. At a City Council meeting held on December 23,2013, the Common Council of the City of
Oakland City,after hearing from Councilmember Broshears, voted to deatmex Property. During
said vote, Councilmember Broshears abstained from voting.
