Please let me know your suggestion on how to handle the following scenario... Husband and Wife own home together, however, wife does NOT live there full time, plus they file separate personal taxes. So if the husband files for an age deduction and he qualifies because he doesn't file personal taxes and he is 75 yrs old, do we reduce the deduction down to half which would be $7,000 since the wife doesn't live there full time and files her own personal taxes?
