HomeMy WebLinkAboutCounMin10-11************************************************************************************* Gibson County Council Regular Session November 9, 2010 ************************************************************************************* The Gibson County Council met in regular session on November 9, 2010, at 9 AM in the North Annex Meeting Room. Members present: Members absent: Jeremy Overton, Pres. George Ankenbrand D. Craig Pflug William McConnell Tony Wolfe William George Cecil R. Allen The meeting was called to order with all present standing and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Minutes: The minutes of the previous meeting, October 12, 2010, were approved with a motion by Ankenbrand seconded by McConnell and passed 7-0. Department Reports: EMS: Dan Alvey gave the monthly report and distributed a memo on the changes on Medicare and Medicaid payments. Extension: Cathy Boerste announced the annual meeting would be November 15, 2010, at the Gibson County Fairgrounds starting at 11 AM. Fort Branch-Johnson Twsp. Library Board: At the October meeting a letter was received to appoint someone to the library board. After the meeting the library notified the Auditor that this appointment should have been done by the South Gibson School Board. Therefore a motion to rescind the vote at the previous meeting was made by Pflug seconded by Allen and passed 7-0. Additional: Circuit Court and Superior Court: A supplement of $25,000 to the Chief Probation Officers of both Courts necessary to bring the pay up to date from the Administration Fee Funds, Circuit 507 and Superior 521, was approved with a motion by Ankenbrand seconded by George and passed 7-0. Circuit Court: A request from fund 517, Probation User Fee, was made by Judge Meade to appropriate $4,200 into Probation Drug Testing and $4,050.57 into equipment to pay a bill for a maintenance contract for the recording system. This was allowed with a motion by Pflug seconded by Wolfe and passed 7-0. Transfers: Circuit Court: A transfer of $1,000 from Per Diem Petit Jurors to Purchasing-maintenance Law Library was requested by Judge Meade. This was allowed with a motion by Ankenbrand seconded by Allen and passed 7-0 Highway: Jerry Heldt requested a transfer of $10,000 from machine and equipment to truck and tractor in the 702-04 budget. This was allowed with a motion by Ankenbrand seconded by Pflug and passed 7-0. New Business: Extension: Cathy Boerste stated that there was a savings of $16,516.80 from not having the new Ag Educator had not been in place at the beginning of the year. These funds can be requested for refund from Purdue for the contract for the three educators. There was discussion on how this amount was figured by Purdue. She has requested $1,100 and $1,200reembursment for herself and another staff member for educational trips taken at their expense, $500 for part time hire and $1,800 to pay clerical staff for comp time from the past summer time due to fair. Wolf stated that this would be setting a precedence to allow something like this. Ankenbrand agreed with Wolf and stated he was concerned that there should be more returned to the County. It was decided to consider each individual concern one at a time. Wolfe made a motion to request the full $16,516.80 from Purdue. The motion was seconded by Allen and passed 6-1 with Ankenbrand casting the nay vote because of his concern there should be more money coming to the County. It was agreed to advertise $500 for the part time hire. Jennifer Schatz introduced herself as the new nurse/supervisor at the Health Department.
