Special Session
Tuesday, September 6, 2026, 10:15 a.m.
Southwest Annex
Commissioner Montgomery led the prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Commissioners present:
• Nick Burns, President
• Chuck Lewis, Vice President
• Kenneth Montgomery, Commissioner
Also present: County Attorney Jason Spindler, Auditor Mike Watkins and Commissioner's
Administrative Assistant Judy Adams.
The purpose of this special meeting was to hold a public hearing concerning the approval
of the Southern Hills Subdivision located in Haubstadt, Indiana.
President Nick Burns opened the meeting with County Attorney Jason Spindler reading the
preliminary matters concerning this meeting.
Mr. Spindler asked the Commissioners if any of them would like to make a motion for a
Continuance of this meeting. With no motion, the meeting continued.
Several interested residents were given the chance to voice their opinions along with Mr.
Joshua Clayborn with Shiloh Counsel. Also, representatives of the engineering firm and
surveyors firm involved with the project along with representatives from the Gibson County
Health Department and Gibson County Highway Department all spoke on the project. Taml
Hack, Executive Director of the Gibson County Economic Development Corporation, spoke
in support of the sub -division.
After discussion, Mr. Spindler gave the Commissioners the option to disapprove, approve
with restrictions or to approve the preliminary Platt. President Burns asked Attorney
Spindler if he felt everything was in order. Attorney Spindler indicated that he felt is was all
good.
Attorney Spindler reminded the Commissioner of the three choices for motions.
Commissioner Montgomery made the motion to approve the preliminary Platt with a
second by President Burns. Attorney Spindler took a roll call vote with President Burns and
Commissioner Montgomery voting yes and Vice President Lewis abstaining. Motion
carried.
President Burns called for adjournment, with Commissioner Montgomery making the
motion and President Burns seconding. Motion carried.
